Having met many years ago at a house party whilst at university, they tied the knot at Liverpool’s favourite stunning venue: Sefton Park Palm House.
The Venue – Sefton Park Palm House
The Victorian glasshouse is a piece of simply stunning architecture. The venue also boasts gorgeous grounds and the tropical plants transport us far and away…
The Proposal and Vision
Lucy tells me that Steven proposed on their 10th anniversary whilst in Venice. She said “YES!” and the couple planned their perfect day. The brief was simple: they wanted to be surrounded by their favourite people.
Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
This couple chose close, life long friends and adorable younger relatives for their special supporters. The best man, Chris, had been Steven’s friend since primary school. The maid of honour was Lucy’s sister, Lois, and the bridesmaids were Kelly, Emily, Karen and Sam. The flower girls wore white jumpsuits and then changed into party dresses. The bridesmaids sourced their dresses online from ASOS. They all looked stunning.
Lucy really wanted a boho relaxed look. She fell in love with Grace Loves Lace dresses – an Australian brand who had opened a London store shortly after their engagement. Talk about meant to be! Lucy waited patiently (six months in fact!) for an appointment! Making a girls weekend out of it with her Mum and sister, she happily fell in love (all over again!) with the Verdelle 2 dress. It was comfortable, made her feel “amazing”, and even had some very cool, boho bat wings!
Steven opted for a smart and relaxed look with chinos, a shirt and a jacket – all of which he managed to find on the high street.
Accessories and Special Surprises
Lucy wore TWO pairs of shoes and a diamond necklace which had been a gift from Steven a few months prior to the wedding. On the morning of their wedding Steven also surprised Lucy with a Katie Loxton bag which said ‘Mrs’ on it. Aww!
Lucy kept herself very busy in the run-up to her wedding. She did ALL of her own decorations, and tried to incorporate many items from their home. I loved that there was a “Glitter Station” and that guests could choose to Pimp a Prosecco!
Lucy was truly delighted by her bouquet! She wanted it to feature lots of coral and to incorporate peonies, small delicate flowers and foliage. Flowers were also centre stage on the tables and complemented the colours in Sefton Park Palm House. Thanks to the creative and talented floristry at The Flower Barn, these wishes all came true!
Make-Up and Hair
Lucy chose the legendary Lou Mac for her make-up. Lucy looked beautiful with a natural, fresh look and red lip, and ensured that everyone looked and felt wonderful.
Sam Gateley, worked her skill and creative magic for Lucy’s relaxed boho hair. Lucy sported a braid, curls and then it was put up with fresh flowers to match her bouquet.
Relish provided the catering for this Sefton Park Palm House celebration. It all sounds to have been delicious and carefully thought out. There was a formal sit down meal with three courses.
The delightful cake came from Mel’s Cakes.
Fraser Todd was the DJ who got everyone dancing the night away. The couple provided sparklers for guests and also created a firework display – The UK Firework Company.
Staying true to to the nature all around them at Sefton Park Palm House, the couple gave their guests a ‘Let Love Grow’ seed envelope. We trust that there are now many blooms reminding people of Lucy and Steven’s special day.
Special Moments and Wise Words
Lucy & Steven say that their most treasured memories will be of the ceremony, particularly walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time. They had been together for 11 years and this was a poignant moment for them – a love that had clearly grown. They also tell that their cheeks hurt from smiling all day! There’s surely no better testament to a day of happiness than that!
And advice? Enjoy every moment, even if things get a bit stressful. The day will soon come round and will fly by!
